Me Made May Week 3

Meg’s Me Made May Week 3

Day 1: Arthur Pants + thrifted tank.

Ok, friends, I LOVED this chic combo, despite the fact that this heavier-weight cotton fabric that I used for my Arthurs is basically like wearing double-sided tape as pants. It picks up EVERY piece of white fuzz and EVERY piece of cat/dog fur. I need your suggestions – is there hope for these pants, or do I just have to wear them at home and accept that I will be covered in fur?

Day 2: Arthur Pants + Kila Tank

When an outfit works, repeat! This Kila Tank is a new make for me, and I can already tell that I need a few more in my wardrobe this summer. I used to run the other way from racerback-influenced tanks, but now that I have a comfortable bra that works with them, I won’t look back. Summer are very hot and humid where I live, so I need as little fabric covering my body as possible. 😉

Day 3: Kila Tank again, + Estuary Skirt

This Estuary says “summer” to me, and I am digging the 70’s vibe here. Reminds me of the Volkswagen Vanagon my family had when I was little!

Day 4: Otis Overalls + Kila Tank

What can I say, it has been the week of tank top experimentation! I really, really enjoy the look and feel of the Otis Overalls worn over a tank top. It’s often what I do when I make a new piece – I spend a good number of days experimenting with all the different ways I could style it, in order to not get in a style rut. Me Made May is a great opportunity to explore in this way.

Day 5: Again with a tank + Gypsum Skirt

I prefer the silhouette of the Kila to this thirfted tank, which has a tendency to stretch out under the armpits as the day goes on. This, of course, means that I have plans to make Kila tanks in black, gray, and white – which will be a great way to use some stash fabrics and larger remnant pieces.

Meredith’s Me Made May Week 3

Day 1: Gypsum Skirt + Ogden Cami

This Gypsum skirt is mom-made rather than me-made, but I think that still fits with the spirit of the month. I was delighted when I woke up on Monday and saw it was just warm enough to pair with my favorite Ogden Cami and a pair of Dankso clogs .

Day 2: Wiksten Shift Top + Persephone Pants

I found this denim fabric a couple of years ago on a trip to London with my mom. This pair of Persephones might be most worn pair of pants. The rusty brick red goes with so much more than I anticipated and is a nice break from my normal blue denim. I left the pockets off of the Wiksten top (sacrilege for many sewists, I know) so that I could tuck it in easily and neatly, since most of my pants are high waisted, and that is how I prefer to wear my shirts.

Day 3: Estuary Skirt + Rio Ringer Tee

My Rio Ringer paired with my Estuary Skirt is one of my favorite spring outfits. I love the 70’s vibe of the tee, and the button front of the skirt also has a vintage feel, without being dated. It makes this outfit just the right combination of throw-back and modern. Not to mention incredibly comfortable and easy to wear.

Day 4: Wiksten Shift Dress

Believe it or not, this dress was one of the first time I used an orange fabric. It’s been love ever since! I love the simple silhouette of this pattern, and it is such a quick sew. But I wanted a little something extra and added a bit of embroidery at the front and back necklines. It just makes the dress feel completely me, and every time I wear it I get asked about the stitches.

Day 5: Florence Top + RTW jeans

I ended the week with another mom-made piece, the Merchant and Mills Florence Top. I posed facing away from the camera because as cute as the front of this top is, the back is my favorite part. There is just something about a button back that feels a little extra special to me. With just a simple pair of jeans and sandals this outfits feels summery and fresh, perfect for heading into the weekend.

  1. I love the color combinations that Meg wears, especially the mustard estuary skirt with the clay kila tank. I have yet to sew anything with knit fabric (often it is just too hot for tropical living). But I’d like to give this tank a try. What fabric did you use to make it?

  2. Meg mentions a comfortable bra for under her tanks…care to share? 🙂 RTW bras never seem quite right for me!

  3. Meredith, I love the Florence too! What kind of fabric is this? Looks a little bit like linen?
